I'd managed to download a significant number of the custom level sets over several years, i.e., basically all of the level sets that were rated from A+ and was almost through downloading those rated at B+. I was angry at myself for not taking the time to back up the downloads I'd already completed via Infinity ( we're talking several hundred that I'd previously added to the base game). Instead, you have to visit a fan site that holds most of the original custom-made level sets and then manually add them to the game (it's really easy to do by dropping the extracted level sets directly into the installed games folder.) The access to thousands of level sets created by the community can no longer be downloaded directly from in game. Since the demise of the ability to download custom level sets that were available directly from Ricochet Infinity while in game apparently because the license holder said it was ''no longer viable'' (probably meaning they weren't making any money from it). All Infinity levels are labelled differently on the download site so if you wish to play earlier versions of the game, don't add the Infinity level sets. The recharged version was a thank you to the ricochet community, where the developers released the best of the custom-made level sets created by the community.Īll level sets work with Ricochet Infinity however, level sets created with Ricochet Infinity do not work on earlier versions of the games due to new brick types and bat/paddles with various attributes being added to the final release that were not present in earlier versions of the game. Ricochet Infinity (2007) HERE (sadly the final release) Ricochet Lost Worlds: Recharged (2004) HERE Ricochet aka Rebound aka Ricochet Xtreme (2001 HERE The sound really doesn't add much to the game but it also doesn't detract either. You can get all of the Ricochet series for free now via My Abandonware In one level you will be smashing a spider shaped with bricks. The addition of moving pieces makes this game even better visually. All the levels are well detailed for a 2D Breakout style game. The ability to play with a friend is a good addition to any game and this game offers great multiplayer action. Having multiplayer on a game in this genre is rare. You each need a mouse plugged into the same computer. A “Mouse Party” allows you to play with a friend. Ricochet Infinity offers something that few Breakout style games offer, multiplayer. Leveling up unlocks new ships with different special features like laser cannons or bumper assist. There are five rings on each level and collecting them levels you up. Another item you can collect in each level is golden rings. To pass each level you will have to destroy all the bricks that are on that level. There are tons of different power-ups to get that help you along the way, but watch out for the bad power-ups because they make your life harder. You can receive items like a wider bat, a laser guide for your ball that shows you where it will go, or weapons like a missile launcher. These items can be different things: power-ups, extra points, extra lives, and even power-downs.Ĭollecting power-ups enhances your ability to clear levels. As you smash various items, items come out of them and slowly approach the bottom of the screen. It is your goal to prevent the ball from going past the bottom of the screen. You have a bat at the bottom of the screen, that is controlled by your mouse, and a ball that bounces around the screen destroying the various objects on the map. The gameplay is similar to other Breakout style games.
